Our people and culture

We want all who engage with us — patients, families, employees, vendors and community partners — to feel valued, respected and supported. This means having a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture that reflects the rich backgrounds of the communities we serve.

James Burroughs, senior vice president, government and community relations, chief equity and inclusion officer

At Children’s Minnesota, we embed equity and inclusion in everything we do.

That means delivering equitable and inclusive care to families, ensuring everyone has what they need, as individuals, to thrive, building a team that reflects and understands the communities we serve and ensuring every employee feels valued and included so they can reach their full potential.

Equity and inclusion is part of our strategic plan and we measure our progress. Why? Because everyone who walks through our doors deserves to feel genuinely welcome, respected and supported.

Equity and inclusion scorecard

In an effort to build a workforce that reflects the communities we serve and helps us cultivate a more inclusive and equitable environment, we are providing our leaders with a comprehensive scorecard that allows for the opportunity to review, analyze and track their overall performance on specific equity and inclusion metrics. Those metrics will focus on the representation of our staff, retention and turnover rates, as well as supplier diversity and health equity metrics.
